Laura Emmet Publisher Submission Package Contract

 

1. This contract is between the author Laura Emmet and [INSERT CLIENT NAME].  Laura Emmet will be referred to hereafter as the “author” and [INSERT CLIENT NAME] as the “client”.

2. The author has agreed to write a piece no shorter than [INSERT THE NUMBER OF WORDS PAID FOR] for the client for the sum of [INSERT COST OF SERVICE], based on material supplied by the client to the author.

3. The author has agreed to complete the work within [TWO WEEKS FOR EVERY 5000 WORDS] from the time that payment for the service has been cleared.  

4. If at the end of the work the client requires that part of the work needs to be re-written, reasonable time must be afforded to the author to complete such a re-write.  This re-write time must not exceed 4 weeks for every 10,000 words section. The author is only obligated to carry out one such re-write and any further work carried out by the author is to be done at the author’s discretion.

5. The author agrees to keep all claim to the work private unless instructed by law to make such a disclosure to a court, and only to those courts that have an influence and legal standing in the United Kingdom or the United States of America.

6. The author agrees that she has no claim to the work in any form, published, televised, turned into a film or any other such format, even those which have not yet been invented.  All rights, at present and in the future to the work will remain the sole property of the client.

7. Both author and client agree that this is the only contract valid with respect to this work and that any modifications that both parties agree to with respect to this contract will be done through Donard Ghost’s.

8. Failure of either party to meet in full the terms of this contract will result in the following actions:

- if the author fails to complete the work in the agreed time she will repay in full all money the client has paid for the service.  The only time when this clause does not apply is when both author and client agree to an extension.  Donard Ghost’s must be informed immediately of any such change.

- if the client fails to pay the agreed fee for the service, or fails to provide the author with sufficient information to complete the work, the agreement will become void.  The author will in these circumstances not be required to complete the project or turn over any work already carried out on the project.

 

Supplemental Terms and Conditions: Applicable to clients who sign-up between 26th December, 2009 and the 31st Of December, 2009.  

 

a. You agree to contact at least ten publishers, or allow us to contact at least ten publishers on your behalf.  

b. You will provide us with proof that you have contacted at least ten publishers (ten letters of refusal from the publishers).

c. If after six months following the completion of the publisher submission package you have not received a request to view the full book from a publisher you will receive a full refund (paid within 30 days).
