Important Information
It is vital that you let us know if you have ever had your book, or any part of it, published before in any form, including on a website. This only applies to those services where we will be acting as your agent.
We need to know this information as one of our agents/writers recently negotiated a substantial book deal with a publisher over the course of several months and the publisher pulled out of the agreement and threatened the agent with legal action because the client failed to disclose that they had the book self published a few years back under a different title. It took a considerable amount of effort to talk the publisher round and get the book deal back in place. This is something that we do not want to happen again.
If your book or any part of it has been published before that is not a problem as long as we are made aware of this. Most publishers are aware of the fact that many people have their books published over the Internet and this isn’t a problem for many of them. We can work around it. The problem only arises when this is not mentioned to the publisher at the outset of the negotiations.
