PLEASE NOTE: The service agreement below will be adjusted to reflect the word count that you have paid for (the cost, word count and time to completion will be different for smaller projects).

Right to Cancel
You have the right to cancel any of order placed with us within seven days of placing it.  You will receive a full refund but any work carried out on your project within that time will not be sent to you.

1. This contract is between [WRITER’S NAME] and [CLIENT’S NAME]. [WRITER’S NAME] will be referred to hereafter as the “writer” and  [CLIENT’S NAME] as the “client”.

2. The writer has agreed to write a piece no shorter than [NUMBER OF WORDS PURCHASED] for the client based on material supplied by the client to the writer.

3. The writer has agreed to finish writing the [NUMBER OF WORDS PURCHASED] within [TWO WEEKS FOR EVERY 1000 WORDS] from the time that the material required to complete the work has been sent and payment of [COST OF WORDS PURCHASED] has been made by the client.  The [TWO WEEKS FOR EVERY 1000 WORDS] period will only begin when the payment has been cleared by the writer’s bank (instantly, if sent by PayPal). The client may extend this [TWO WEEKS FOR EVERY 1000 WORDS] period by informing the writer of their intention to do so.  The writer may only extend this period of time with the express agreement of the client.

4. If at the end of the work the client requires that part of the work be re-written, reasonable time must be afforded to the writer to complete such a re-write.  This re-write time must not exceed two weeks for every ten thousand word section. The writer is only obligated to carry out one such re-write, if requested, on each ten thousand word section and any further re-writes carried out by the writer is to be done so at the writer’s discretion. If the client is still not satisfied after the re-write, a full refund will be paid, on request. The refund will be paid within 28 days of the request being received.  If a refund is made the client may not submit the work carried out by the writer to publishers, literary agents or any other entity. The work carried out by the writer must not be published in any format. All original ideas pertaining to the story submitted to the writer by the client will remain the property of the client.  The client is free to use their original ideas to have another writer work on their story but that writer may not use any of the work carried out by the writer appointed by Donard Ghosts.  

5. The writer agrees to keep all claims to the work private unless instructed by law to make such a disclosure to a court or other authority or body with relevant powers to make such a request, and only to those courts or authorities that have an influence or legal standing in the United Kingdom or the United States of America.

6. The client agrees not to hold the writer or Donard Ghosts responsible if the identity of the writer with respect to the project becomes public knowledge through theft, interception of e-mails or other correspondence, or through any other circumstances other than the writer or Donard Ghosts purposefully making this information available to the public.  

7. The writer agrees that he has no legal or other claim to authorship of the work.  Such claims include, but are not limited to, printed, televised, turned into a film or any other such formats, even those which have not yet been invented.  All authorship rights, at present, and in the future to the work will remain the sole property of the client.

8. Both writer and client agree that this is the only valid contract with respect to this project and that any modifications that both parties agree to with respect to this contract will be done through Donard Ghosts and formalised in writing. Until such a written agreement, signed by both client and writer is received by Donard Ghosts, this agreement will remain the only valid contract.

9. Failure of either party to meet in full the terms of this contract may result in the following actions:

- if the client fails to provide the writer with sufficient information to complete the work in the stated time without notifying the writer that a time extension is necessary, the agreement will become void.  The writer will in those circumstances not be required to complete the project or turn over any work already carried out on the project.

- if the writer fails to complete any section within the agreed time period, all monies paid by the client for that section of writing will be returned and the client will be entitled to have the section written by the writer or by another writer appointed by Donard Ghosts, free of charge.
